Between memory
and rupture.

The painted world of Predrag Popara — a body of work suspended between construction and collapse, intimacy and chaos. Belgrade, Vienna, Berlin, Bucharest.

I. Premise

“I am not painting objects. I am painting the pressure beneath them — the tremor of a civilization that no longer recognises its own face.”

— P.P., studio notes

III. The Studio

The wall is a calendar of decisions, and erasures.

Popara's studios in Belgrade and Bucharest function less as workshops than as laboratories of attention — long durations of silence, sudden gestures, repainted years. The fragments left behind become the next painting's foundation.

V. Coda

“Painting is the last room in which a human being can disappear and return, changed.”
